Clarks Summit, PA: Bucks County Community College Centurions grabbed an early lead on its way to a 23-6 victory over Clarks Summit University Defenders on Saturday.
The Centurions Varsity scored on a walk by Ed Parry, a double by Brendan Jordan, a double by Chris Furey, an error, a single by Brett Thrower, a single by Evan Matthews, a single by Josh Mcgee, and a single by Jordan in the first inning.
The Centurions earned the victory despite allowing Clarks Summit University Defenders to score four runs in the first inning. The offensive firepower by Clarks Summit University Defenders was led by Jacob Leisenger and Marcus Dixon, all driving in runs in the frame.
After the Defenders scored two runs in the top of the fourth, the Centurions answered with two of their own. The Defenders scored when Nathaniel Tutton singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run and Josh Knight singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. Bucks then answered when Parry singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Mcgee singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Luke Redding earned the win for Bucks. He lasted four innings, allowing six hits and six runs while striking out five. Ken Brough threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Leisenger took the loss for Clarks Summit. He surrendered 11 runs on nine hits over one inning, striking out two.
The Centurions Varsity tallied one home run on the day. Parry had a long ball in the second inning.
Bucks County Community College Centurions racked up 21 hits in the game. Mcgee, Matthews, Parry, C.J Jimenez, Thrower, and Jordan each racked up multiple hits for the Centurions. Mcgee led with four hits in five at bats.
Clarks Summit University had seven hits in the game. Knight and Tutton all had multiple hits for Clarks Summit University.
The Centurions are now 3-1.
