Baseball: Fall to Sussex County Community College Skylanders on Walk-off

Hackettstown, NJ: The Centurions fell to Sussex County Community College Skylanders 12-11 on Sunday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at 11 with Skylanders batting in the bottom of the eighth when they hit a sac fly that scored one run for Skylanders.

The Centurions trailed by four runs in the third inning, but then fought back to lower the final margin. The Centurions put up ten runs in the failed comeback. Ken Brough, Tyler Frake, Ed Parry, Chris Furey, Tyler Frake, and Cole Nehring powered the rally with RBIs. The Skylanders fired up the offense in the second inning, when #13 doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. Skylanders evened things up at 11 in the bottom of the seventh inning. #5 hit a solo homer.

After Centurions  scored one run in the top of the third, the Skylanders answered with one of their own then answered when Jason Hughes induced #99 to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. The Centurions  scored six runs in the fifth inning. Furey, Frake, Nehring, and Parry powered the big inning with RBIs. The Skylanders scored four runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Sussex came thanks to walks by #20 and #0 and a single by #24.

Hughes led things off on the mound for the Centurions. He allowed seven hits and five runs over three innings, striking out three. Hughes went three innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and striking out three.                

Bucks tallied one home run on the day. Brough went yard in the fourth inning. The Centurions racked up 13 hits on the day. Frake, Brough, Jorden Sesar, Felix Galarza, and Nehring all collected multiple hits for Bucks County Community College Centurions Varsity. Frake went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Bucks County Community College Centurions Varsity in hits.
