Lady Centurions Put Forth Best Effort of the Season

NEWTOWN, Pa.- Bucks County's Lady Centurions unwrapped their best game of the season and delivered an early Christmas gift to Head Coach Andre Bright. For the first time all season, all five starters scored (the highest number of scorers in a game all season), they scored a season high 18 points in the first half (including a season high 14 second quarter points).

Despite the final score of 84-38, Coach Bright was thrilled with the results his players gave. "Tonight was the kind of game that I saw us playing all season," said Coach Bright. "This is the kind of effort that gives you hope that players are beginning to understand what I'm looking for from them."

The night started as most nights have begun for the Lady Centurions falling down in the first quarter  19-4, but the difference tonight was in the defensive effort of freshman guard Cara Coughlin (Warminster, PA/Archbishop Wood) who went the length of the floor after stealing a pass and scored the second Bucks field goal of the game. "After that steal and basket, Cara seemed to lock in and really focus on using her quickness to step into the passing lane," said Coach Bright. "This was definitely the best game she's had so far this season."

The Lady Centurions (0-10, 0-8) were led by freshmen Korin Bradley (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) 12 points and 10 rebounds, Cara Coughlin (9 points, 5 assists, 2 steals) and Alena Kusnerick (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) 2 points, 4 rebounds, 5 blocks. Sophomores Kailie Mitchell (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) added 7 points, 3 rebounds and Haleigh Kaufmann (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) contributed 8 points, 8 rebounds.

"I talk often to the team about laying a solid foundation for the future of the program," said Coach Bright. "Tonight was the kind of breakthrough night I hope we can continue to have."

Bucks will be off for the Holiday and will return to play Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Luzerne County Community College. Game time is 12:00 PM.
