Mistakes Humble Centurions

Newtown, Pa. - The Bucks men's soccer team were able to play on their home field for the first time this season in a match up with USCAA powerhouse Berkeley College-NJ and fell by a score of 4-2 on Saturday afternoon at Centurion Field.

Unforced errors were quickly capitalized on the by visitors as a pass, just minutes in the game, was stolen and the home team was down 1-0. Not long after, a scramble in the penalty area caused a Berkeley player to fall and they were awarded a penalty. The second half Bucks started quickly as Zachary Shefsky (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) scored off a rebound to cut the lead in half. Berkeley again converted the mistake into goals to score twice more.  Bucks kept pushing forward and Joseph Roller (Warminster, PA/William Tennent) was taken down in the penalty area with resulted in a penalty kick whick ended in a goal. Time ran out for the Centurions as they could not come back.

Berkeley accumulated 27 fouls to Bucks 10 in the game.

"They (Berkeley) wanted more then we did; we let the fouls and emotion take us out of our game today," remarked Head Coach Justin Burroughs, "We have a lot to work on and even more prove."

The lose drops Bucks to 1-1-0 overall, while Berkeley-NJ improves to 4-0-0.

The Centurions are back in action on Thursday when they travel to face national powerhouse, Camden County College, with kick-off scheduled for 3:30pm.
