NEWTOWN, PA.- Sophomore, Dominque Tirendi of Newtown competes in the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association in Harrisburg.

Dominique Tirendi, a member of Bucks County Community College’s equestrian team, is competing this week at the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association’s nationals in Harrisburg. Tirendi, a 20-year-old sophomore from Newtown, qualified to compete as an individual after being named Reserve Champion of Zone 3 in a competition that was held April 7 at Centenerary University. The zone consists of 49 teams and hundreds of riders.

Tirendi will compete in the walk-trot equitation against riders from universities and colleges from all over the country on Thursday, May 3 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. She is the only competitor from a community college.

Coach Amanda Enwright said, Tirendi came into the Centurions equestrian program two years ago not knowing anything about riding, and now has qualified for regionals, zones and nationals for IHSA Zone 3, Region 2. “She is very dedicated to improve, as she rides multiple times a week and leases one of the horses,” noted Enwright.

Tirendi, a 2016 graduate of Council Rock High School South, is a liberal arts major at Bucks who plans to transfer to Gwynedd Mercy Univeristy in the fall to continue riding.
