Centurions Double Down Phantoms

NEWTOWN, Pa.- Freshman Paul DePompeo (Feasterville, PA/Neshaminy) was clutch at the plate with runners on base Saturday, driving in four on three hits to lead Bucks past Delaware County Community College 12-9. DePompeo drove in runs on a single in the first, a single in the fourth, and a triple in the sixth.

Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. Both teams collected 11 hits. 

The Centurions captured the lead in the first inning. DePompeo drove in two when he singled.

Bucks took the lead for good with one run in the third inning as Matthew Bound (Furlong, PA/Central Bucks East) singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Reese Sterling (New Hope, PA/New Hope Solebury) took the win for the Centurions. He went three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits and striking out five. Danial McNamee (Southampton, PA/William Tennent) threw three and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Bucks tallied 11 hits on the day. DePompeo, Bound, Edmund Parry (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy), and Evan Matthews (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) all managed multiple hits for the Centurions. DePompeo went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits. Bucks tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Justin Ward (Levittown, PA/Pennsbury) led the way with two.

Bucks built a seven-run lead in the sixth inning and then held off the Phantom's charge for a 16-15 victory in game two on Saturday.

Bucks grabbed an early lead on a single by Edmund Parry (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy), a single by Paul DePompeo (Feasterville, PA/Neshaminy), a groundout by Brendan Jordan (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy), a single by Matthew Bound (Furlong, PA/Central Bucks East), and a groundout by Harold Landman (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) in the first inning.

John Capobianco (Penndel, PA/Neshaminy) led the Centurions to victory on the pitcher's mound. He surrendered six runs on three hits over one inning. Shawn Puskar (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem), Kevin Knapp (Sellersville, PA/Dock Mennonite Academy), and Stephen Brady (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.

Evan Matthews (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) started the game for Bucks. He allowed four hits and five runs over two innings. 

The Centurions tallied 14 hits in the game. Landman, Danial McNamee (Southampton, PA/William Tennent), Justin Ward (Levittown, PA/Pennsbury), and DePompeo each collected multiple hits. Landman led the team with four hits in five at bats.

Delaware falls to 2-5 in the conference, 2-13 in the region and 5-20 overall. 

Bucks improves to 6-3 in the conference, 8-12 in the region and 13-22 overall.
