Bucks Sweeps Mustangs

NEWTOWN, Pa.- There were runs aplenty on Saturday, as Bucks defeated Montgomery County Community College 14-11 in game one of a doubleheader. 

The Centurions got things moving in the first inning. Evan Matthews (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) drove in one when he singled.

Bucks notched six runs in the fourth inning. Edmund Parry (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy), Matthew Bound (Furlong, PA/Central Bucks East), and Harold Landman (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) powered the big inning with RBIs.

Freshman Reese Sterling (New Hope, PA/New Hope Solebury) was the winning pitcher for the Centurions. He went four innings, allowing six runs on four hits and striking out three. Kevin Knapp (Sellersville, PA/Dock Mennonite Academy) and Shawn Puskar (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Bucks socked one home run on the day as Parry went yard in the fourth inning.

The Centurions saw the ball well, racking up 15 hits in the game. Paul DePompeo (Feasterville, PA/Neshaminy), William Uphoff (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem), Landman, Justin Ward (Levittown, PA/Pennsbury), and Matthews all collected multiple hits for Bucks.

Despite seeing its five-run lead whittled down by the end, Bucks still held off the Mustangs for a 10-9 victory in game two. 

There was plenty of action on the basepaths as the Centurions collected 13 hits and Montgomery had 11.

Bucks took an early lead in the first inning. William Uphoff (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.

The Centurions took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Jason Zackowski (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Montgomery induced Matthew Bound (Furlong, PA/Central Bucks East) to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Harold Landman's (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) sac fly scored one run for Bucks.

Bucks put up three runs in the fifth inning. Zackowski, Landman, and Justin Ward (Levittown, PA/Pennsbury) each had RBIs in the frame.

Danial McNamee (Southampton, PA/William Tennent) earned the victory on the hill for the Centurions. He surrendered nine runs on 11 hits over six innings, striking out one. Shawn Puskar (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Bucks totaled 13 hits as Paul DePompeo (Feasterville, PA/Neshaminy), Zackowski, and Brendan Jordan (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) all collected multiple hits. DePompeo led the team with three hits in three at bats.

Montgomery falls to 2-3 in the conference, 3-7 in the region and 9-12 overall. 

Bucks improves to 5-3 in the conference, 6-11 in the region and 11-20 overall. 

Up next the Centurions travel to Williamson College of the Trades on Wednesday, April 24th for a 3:30 pm first pitch.
