Centurions Roll Past Patrick Henry College

NEWTOWN, Pa.- John Capobianco (Penndel, PA/Neshaminy) had a busy day at the plate on Sunday, smacking four hits in Bucks's 22-2 victory over Patrick Henry College. Capobianco doubled in the first, singled in the second, doubled in the third, and singled in the third.

The Centurions opened up scoring in the first inning, when Justin Ward (Levittown, PA/Pennsbury) drew a walk, scoring one run.

Bucks notched ten runs in the second inning, thanks to singles by Noah Ruiz (Warminster, PA/Upper Dublin), Capobianco, Evan Matthews (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy), and William Uphoff (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem), doubles by Edmund Parry (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy), a triple by Shawn Puskar (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem), and a sac fly by Paul DePompeo (Feasterville, PA/Neshaminy). 

Freshman Reese Sterling (New Hope, PA/New Hope Solebury) led the Centurions to victory on the pitcher's mound. He surrendered two runs on two hits over five innings, striking out 11 and walking none.

Bucks collected 18 hits. Capobianco, Puskar, Parry, and Kenneth Brough (Bensalem, PA/Lincoln) each had multiple hits. Capobianco led the team with four hits in four at bats. The Centurions stole 12 bases during the game as four players stole more than one. DePompeo stole three.

 

In game two Evan Matthews (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy) was brilliant on the mound as he threw a no-hitter to lead the team to a 19-0 victory.

Bucks opened up scoring in the first inning. John Capobianco (Penndel, PA/Neshaminy) doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

Matthews earned the win for the Centurions, lasting five innings, allowing no hits and no runs while striking out 13.

Bucks racked up 16 hits on the day. Matthew Bound (Furlong, PA/Central Bucks East), Kevin Knapp (Sellersville, PA/Dock Mennonite Academy), Capobianco, Jeffrey Long (Langhorne, PA/Clavary Christian), Danial McNamee (Southampton, PA/William Tennent), and Ryan Yurkovic (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) each collected multiple hits. Bound led the Centurions with three hits in three at bats. Bucks tore up the base paths, as four players stole at least two bases. Kenneth Brough (Bensalem, PA/Lincoln) led the way with four.

Bucks improves to 6-14 overall. 

The Centurions return to action on Monday as they travel to Chesnut Hill College JV for a 6:30 start.
