Baseball Swept by Brookdale

LINCROFT, NJ.- The Centurions traveled to Brookdale Community College on Sunday afternoon for a region doubleheader. 

In game one Bucks fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 16-4 loss to the Jersey Blues. Brookdale opened up scoring in the first inning, when Marchese doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. The Centurions notched three runs in the fifth inning. Bucks offense in the inning was led by Freshman Shawn Puskar (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem), Sophomore Jason Hughes (Warminster, PA/William Tennent), and Freshman Jason Zackowski (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury), all driving in runs in the frame. Brookdale would score four runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Brookdale came thanks to an error on a ball put in play by O'Sullivan and Granto and a walk by Brush.

Danial McNamee (Southampton, PA/William Tennent) led things off on the pitcher's mound for Bucks. He went three innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits and allowing no walks. Kevin Knapp (Sellersville, PA/Dock Mennonite Academy), Evan Matthews (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy), and Stephen Brady (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) each contributed in relief for Bucks. 

The Centurions tallied nine hits in the game lead by Justin Ward (Levittown, PA/Pennsbury), Zackowski (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury), and Harold Landman (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) who each collected two hits. 

In the seond game Bucks struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Brookdale, giving up 18 runs. One bright spot for the Centurions was a single by Landman (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) in the first inning.

Reese Sterling (New Hope, PA/New Hope Solebury) was on the hill for Bucks. He allowed two hits and five runs over one inning, striking out two. Ward (Levittown, PA/Pennsbury), Puskar (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem), and Landman (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) each contributed in relief for the Centurions.

Landman (Levittown, PA/Neshaminy) and Paul DePompeo (Feasterville, PA/Neshaminy) each managed one hit to lead Bucks.

Brookdale improves to 2-0 overall and in the region. 

Bucks falls to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the region. 

Up next the Centurions travel to Mercer County Community College on Tuesday, March 12th for a single nine-inning game at 3:00 pm.
