Centurions Defeats Penn State Scranton with a 3-0 Victory

Newtown, PA - On September 5, 2024, Bucks County Community College (BCCC) delivered an impressive performance against Penn State Scranton, securing a decisive 3-0 victory in their latest men's soccer match. The game, held at BCCC's home field, showcased the home team's offensive prowess, particularly in the second half.

The first half saw both teams struggling to find the back of the net, with neither side able to capitalize on their opportunities. However, the second half was a different story for BCCC. Raphael Fernandes broke the deadlock at the 63:26 mark, scoring the first goal with an assist from Michael Sayon, Jr. This goal set the tone for the remainder of the match.

Levi Morris extended BCCC's lead with an unassisted goal at 73:29, showcasing individual skill and determination. Fernandes sealed the victory with his second goal of the match at 79:58, assisted by Morris, bringing the final score to 3-0.

BCCC's defense was equally commendable, with goalkeeper Mohammed Samim Poya delivering a flawless performance. Poya faced six shots on goal and successfully saved each one, maintaining a clean sheet throughout the 90 minutes.

Despite Penn State Scranton's efforts, including 12 total shots with six on target, they were unable to breach BCCC's defense. Yanal Hasweh and Fabrice Gatsinzi were among the few who managed shots on goal, but their attempts were thwarted by Poya's vigilant goalkeeping.

The match also saw a few disciplinary actions, with BCCC receiving three yellow cards, one each for Aiden Perry, Levi Morris, and Raphael Fernandes. However, these did not deter the team's overall performance.

BCCC's victory improves their record to 1-1, while Penn State Scranton falls to 0-1.

Overall, BCCC's strategic play and effective execution in the second half were key to their success, leaving Penn State Scranton to regroup and strategize for their upcoming fixtures.
