Men's Soccer: Suffer first loss

Toms River, NJ: Centurions suffer first loss of the season against GSAC opponent the Vikings of Ocean County College with an intense 2-3 score.

No goals were scored in the first half of competition. Both teams were only able to get 7 shots off in the first half with only 2 shots on goal by the Centurions and 4 shots on goal by the Vikings.

Vikings Kevin Miller scored the first goal of the match 10 minutes into the second half to put OCC up 0-1. Freshman midfielder Dennis Lara scored his first goal of the season to tie it up 1-1. The game remained tied for the next 8 minutes and it was Cory Branz of Ocean CC to put the Vikings back on top 1-2. Not to be outdone Centurions leading scorer sophomore forward Salvatore Ficarotta (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) responded with an unassisted goal to even the score 2-2. Unfortunately, for the Centurions, Branz again scored the go ahead and game winning goal to give the Vikings the 2-3 victory

The Centurions move to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in EPAC play. The Centurions will look to remain unbeaten in EPAC play as they travel to the Mustangs of Montgomery County Community College on Tuesday, September 17 for a 3 PM start at the Proving Grounds Stadium. The Mustangs are currently 2-1-1.
