Centurions Pull Out the Win

NEWTOWN, Pa. – Men's Basketball avenged an earlier loss while keeping their playoffs hopes alive with a 78-75 with a win over Delaware Technical Community College on Tuesday evening.

Del Tech got off to a fast 7-0 start until freshman guard, Laddis Taylor (Beverly, NJ/Burlington CIT) scored the home team's first two points of the game  with 15:29 remaining in the 1st half. As the Centurions battled back, sophomore guard, Eric Flynn (Levittown, PA/Conwell Egan) scored a three pointer giving home team their first lead of game with 9:05 left in the half. Bucks lead at halftime by a score of 30-22. Both teams continued to battle in the second and Del Tech managed to regain the lead 58-61  with 7 minutes remain in the 2nd. Sophomore forward, Keith Howard (Feasterville, PA/Bensalem) drove through the lane for a strong layup, was fouled on scored the free throw to take the lead back for the Centurions, 71-70 with 2:40 remaining in the game. Del Tech picked up the intensity pressing but Bucks broke the press and got the ball to Sophomore guard, Patrick McCauley (Southampton, PA/William Tennent) who drained a three with 29 seconds left (78-73 lead). Bucks ended the game winning 78-75. 

Howard lead the team in scoring with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman forward, Kristopher Shields (Bensalem, PA/Bensalem) pitched in with 17 points going 6 for 7 from the field and continuing his hot 3 point shooting going 3 for 4 and currently ranks 2nd in the country in 3 point shooting percentage. The Centurions need to win their last two home games in order to qualify for the Region XIX, division 2 playoffs.

The win improves Bucks record to 9-11 overall and 6-8 in Region XIX.

Delaware Tech falls to 11-12 overall and 6-8 in Region XIX.

Next up the Centurions host Montgomery County Community College on Thursday, February 13th at 7:00PM.
