Centurions Stay Red Hot on Sophomore Night

NEWTOWN, Pa.- The Men's Basketball team defeated conference rival Delaware County Community College on Tuesday night, 73-70. 

The night was also one of celebration as the team honored it's three sophomores before the game. 

Sophomore guards Garrett Wade (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks South), Matt Ricketts (Milford, CT/Wilbur Cross) and Somah Slewion (Philadelphia, PA/Swenson Arts) were all accompanied by their mothers as they were honored before the contest in a brief ceremony. 

Slewion would go on to have an extraordinary night leading the team with 29 points and 9 rebounds while going 6 for 8 from the free throw line. The Centurions would trail at half down by four but their confidence went unwavered. A 16 point contribution from Ronald Garrison (Bristol, PA/Bristol) and an 11 point add from Ricketts would help Bucks outscore the Phantoms by 7 in the second half and claim their fourth straight victory. 

The victory also puts Bucks over .500 and qualifies them for the Region XIX playoffs for the first time since the 2015-16 season. 

Delaware falls to 5-13 overall, 5-11 in the region and 5-8 in the conference. 

Bucks improves to 12-11 overall, 9-10 in the region and 9-6 in the conference. 

Up next the Centurions travel to Northampton Community College on Saturday, February 10th for their regular season finale against the Spartans at 2:00 pm.
